We will be offering free drive-thru or walk-up COVID-19 tests this Saturday, December 19 from 9 AM – 4 PM while supplies last. These tests are being offered completely free, you do not need to have symptoms, insurance is not required, and it is first-come, first-served while supplies last.
Thanks to The Molecular Diagnostics Lab on Wichita State University’s Innovation Campus, HealthCore Clinic is able to offer this much-needed testing completely free of cost to the community. The test is a self-administered saliva test that takes a few minutes to complete and does not require swabbing the back of the nose or throat area. Results will be provided through the WSU Molecular Diagnostics Lab portal.
Cars must enter via Grove and E. Stadium Drive. This is just south of 21st St and Grove. Traffic enforcement will be on-site to help line cars up along E. Stadium Drive before they turn left onto Erie and into the East parking lot of HealthCore Clinic where the tests will be administered. It is first-come, first-served while supplies last.
Patients without a vehicle can walk-up to HealthCore Clinic located on 21st Street between Hillside and Grove. There is a Wichita Public Transit Bus Route 28, Stop 2 at Grove & Hillside. Walk-up customers should wait at the East entrance to the clinic where an outdoor seating area for testing will be provided.
This service is for patients without access to a vehicle, patients using public transportation, or patients who walked/biked from their residence. Patients in vehicles must remain in their vehicles and may not use the walk-up service as a way to “skip” the line.
Saliva tests are less invasive than other tests. You will spit into a tube rather than get your nose or throat swabbed. Saliva tests may be more comfortable for some people and may be safer for health care workers who can be farther away during the sample collection.
This is a diagnostic PCR test that can show if you have an active coronavirus infection and should take steps to quarantine or isolate yourself from others.
Tests will be processed by the Molecular Diagnostics Lab on Wichita State University’s Innovation Campus. HealthCore Clinic is not processing the tests on-site and is not the lab for these tests. All patients will be provided with instructions after your test detailing how to get your results from the WSU Molecular Diagnostics Lab portal.
As of right now, this is our only scheduled date and time for these free COVID-19 tests. If you are unable to come on Saturday, we offer COVID-19 testing by appointment to patients through our Respiratory Clinic during regular business hours. Regular testing will be billed through insurance. If we are able to offer free COVID-19 testing in the future, we will announce it on our social media and through the news media.
The federal government, under the umbrella of Operation Warp Speed, has been working since the start of the pandemic to make a COVID-19 vaccine available as soon as possible. Vaccines are likely to become available as early as Spring, 2021. HealthCore Clinic has applied to be COVID-19 Vaccination site for Wichita.
